Special Workshop in September:

Components Workshop Featuring Combings

During this workshop you will build a 4.5” square using strips-on-edge construction. Then you will heat this in the kiln until it is soft and pull a metal tool through the soft glass to create a pattern. We can only fire three combings a day, so space is very limited.

10:30am to 1:30pm. or 1:30pm to 3:30 pm

Call for Entries: 2010 AGFC Third Annual Art Show


Eligibility:

Competition is open to all students, former students, and customers of The Art Glass Fusing Center. Work submitted should be fused, lamp-worked, or cast glasswork; mixed media work is eligible if it is primarily glass.


Categories:

Newcomer: Artists with less than two years experience with kiln-formed glass.

Journeyman: Artists with two years or more experience in kiln-formed glass.


Prizes:

First and Second in each category

Best in Show

People’s Choice (selected by those attending the preview and the Opening Reception)


Submissions:

Up to 2 works per artist will be accepted for judging. An entry form attesting to the originality of the work and granting permission to exhibit the work, as well as a Release from Liability, must be signed by the artist and must accompany all entries (can be picked up ahead of time at AGFC or completed at time of drop off). A three to five line artist statement must be included. A brief description of the process used to create the work may be included.


Judging:

Work will be judged on technical mastery and craftsmanship, design, originality, and creative thought.


Voting for the People’s Choice Award will be done by signed ballot during the exhibition preview starting 12:00pm Wednesday, October 13th and ending Friday, October 15th at 8:00pm.


Entry Deadline:


Work must be brought to The Art Glass Fusing Center in person Tuesday, September 28th through Saturday, October 2nd. No late submissions will be accepted. Finalists and winners (except People’s Choice) will be notified by 6:00pm Tuesday, October 4th . Artwork not chosen for display must be picked up no later than 4:00pm Saturday, October 9th.


Artwork by the finalists and prize winners will be displayed in the gallery at The Art Glass Fusing Center for the month of October and November. Prizes will be awarded during opening night ceremonies on Friday October 15, 2010 between 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Come meet the artists. Refreshments will be served.
